Deconstruction 1
For the first deconstruction i chose to analyse Ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine as this song Agnes said she drew a lot of their inspiration from when writing before. And the visual style was one i wanted to draw inspiration from myself. I hadn't heard of this artist until they were introduced to be as an artist Agnes was inspired by.

Deconstruction 2
For the second deconstruction i chose to look at the music video Great heights by bears in trees. I chose them as they are a lower budget indie folk group that would provide a good contrast between the other two artists that had a higher production budget.

Deconstruction 3
For the third music video i chose October passed me by by Girl in red, as i felt the themes of this song are similar to Before and would provide a good comparison for an industry song.
Extended research report
This is the extended research report document, where we had to look at media theories and apply them to the product we had chosen to make, I chose to look at Andrew Goodwin's music video theory and Stuart Hall's theory of representation. I chose to look at these as I felt they could be applied the best to the production and development of my ideas for the music video. I also looked at the wider contexts of the indie folk genre and how i can apply them to my product.

Music video cuts
This is the first cut of the music video for the song before, I edited it and color graded it as I saw fit. I received feedback on it both from my lecturers and the performer themselves and implemented these changes in the second cut of the video.
This is the second cut together of the music video, I changed a few of the sequences to some new footage i recorded and got feedback. I chose to make these changes based on the previous feedback as I felt the feedback was fair and the second cut better fits the desired style and genre conventions I wanted to implement. I also received the suggestion of adding light leaks to the "less visually interesting" shots so i decided to experiment a bit with that in the next cut.
This is the cut of the music video where I experimented with the use of light leak overlays. I found that i do not like them, and preferred the previous cut of the video. I however can see their potential, and feedback suggested that I make use of softer ones across the video which i tried in the next cut.
This is the cut of the music video where I experimented more with light leaks and made them more prominent throughout and softer in parts where they appear based on the feedback I received on the previous cuts. I still prefer the second cut without light leaks however, as in my opinion the light leaks add too much visual noise that distracts from the video.
This is the third music video cut without light leaks, where i took audience feedback and made alterations to a few of the clips in the sequence. The lecturer feedback is wildly different from the general public feedback however. The lecturers are pushing for more use of light leaks and the general public is against it, and its important to note that Agnes is also against the use of light leaks. This is the cut that i think is the best so far.
This is the fourth cut of the music video that does not feature light leaks, I changed some of the color grading seen in the scenes where Agnes is wearing lipstick. As I had received some feedback that these scenes were too bright and tonally jarring to the spectator.
This is the third cut of the music video that features light leaks, i made the same color grading changes to the lipstick footage as cut 4, however in this one I made a few of the light leaks softer and toned down to just act as a bit of visual contrast. I did this because I received feedback that at times they can be incredibly jarring to watch. And when receiving feedback its important to note that the general audience doesn't like the color grading, but the lecturers and teachers do.
This cut is slightly different from the rest, as it is the edit of the music video that Agnes had complete input on, with them requesting certain things to be changed to best fit what they liked. The only feedback on this edit came from the performer herself and not the general audience.
Audience feedback
This feedback includes the responses from the three people who's results i chose to disregard, but the version of the results with them removed from the sample area can be seen in the feedback on the evaluation.
Getting Before on Spotify

I attempted to upload the song to Spotify for this project, however after I had done so my distribution was denied and my money taken. When I asked why I was told by the company that I wasn't permitted to know why i was rejected, but to fix it i would have to know what to change. They then proceeded to block me from ever uploading the song again on any platform tune core distributes on, and refused to refund me. Without explanation to why. So I was unsuccessful in getting the song on Spotify, but should I eventually get the song released on Spotify it will be in the mini player below. So if that displays anything other than the wix default music it is on Spotify.

Agnes Version

This segment of the page fits all the content that was produced for the Performer that they wanted to fit their specific brand presentation, it remains separate from the other content produced based on audience feedback. These edits and images were made with only the feedback from Agnes themselves.

Tyche Version

This segment of the page features the things that i felt best fit my creative vision for this project. Which includes the album cover, cuts and song version is liked the most and the YouTube thumbnail I liked the most. The content on this page is that which I feel best matches my original ideas for this project. This edit of the song is also the edit that the audience responded better to.
Teacher Version

This segment of the page has all the content that the lecturers of the course thought were the strongest versions. This is the edit that features the light leaks, and the edit that was constructed purely based on the feedback from the teachers and no one else.
